ADU Slope Stability & Drainage Investigation in Woodside, CA

Woodside permits detached ADUs up to 1,500 square feet, well above the state minimum, which means more foundation load and more site disturbance on lots that are frequently steep, wooded, and served by septic or well systems.

AK Geotech's Woodside scope centers on slope stability and drainage, since most Woodside hillside lots involve natural slopes well beyond what's typical in flatland Bay Area cities. We evaluate the stability of the building pad and any cut or fill slopes created by the ADU, check for signs of prior slope movement, and recommend foundation and drainage measures that keep runoff from concentrating near the new structure or an existing septic field.

Given the size Woodside allows, we also address seismic design parameters and, where applicable, settlement due to the added structural load -- points that Woodside's plan review will expect to see addressed directly in the report, not left implicit.

What's included

  • Slope stability analysis for building pad and adjacent slopes

  • Subsurface exploration and soil classification

  • Drainage recommendations (including septic-adjacent siting)

  • Foundation type and seismic design parameters

  • Formal geotechnical report for permit submittal
